3 Tips To Choosing A New Deck For Your Home

Low Maintenance Deck 95

Choosing a new deck for your home is much easier than you might think.

If you are looking for a new deck for your property, winter is the perfect time to do so if you want a spring or summer installation date.  Decking, in general, will enhance the look and feel of your home as well expanding your property.  Choosing the perfect deck for you and your family to enjoy is not as difficult as you might think.  Luckily, there are a few simple tips you should follow when choosing your new deck.

Wood

When it comes to choosing a deck material, wood is the most traditional and natural one on the market.  Enhance your home with a pressure-treated or hardwood deck which will last for several years with constant maintenance.  Wooden decks are extremely durable, but they require continual maintenance.  You should clean your wooden deck a few times a year and seal the structure every couple of years.  The last thing you want is rain or snow to damage your beautiful wooden deck.

Composite

If you want the look of a wooden deck, but without the constant maintenance then you should go with composite deck.  Composite decking, made from plastic and waste wood fibers, is highly resistant to rot and everyday wear and tear.  Composite decks only require minimal cleaning which includes spraying down with a hose.  You will also never need to paint or stain your deck after you choose your color.

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) also mimic the look of wood but are made of recycled plastic.  PVC decks are highly durable, so your deck will withstand all of the elements.  Similar to composite decking, your PVC deck requires minimal maintenance to look brand new throughout the year.
