How To Care For Your Vinyl Fence

Vinyl Fence

Learn how to care for your vinyl fence properly.

Vinyl fencing continues to be a popular option for homeowners because it is highly durable and longlasting.  Even though vinyl fencing stands up well to the elements and everyday wear and tear, you still have to go through the proper steps to maintain it.  You want to make sure your vinyl fencing stays around your property for years to come.  There are a few simple ways to care for your vinyl fence so it can continue to benefit your family.

Clean and Rinse

Although your fence will not erode from weather damage, you still have to worry about dirt and algae build-up.  All you have to do it clean your fence regularly to keep it looking brand new all year around.  You need a bucket filled with warm water and a mild cleaning solution and soak sponge to clean your fence thoroughly.  Once you wash your fence, you just have to rinse it off with a hose.

Check For Stability

It is critical that at least once a year you walk around your fence and check that all of the posts are sturdy.  Snow and rain can damage the dirt around your fence posts causing them to loosen and potentially making your fence fall apart.  If you happen to find any posts loose, all you have to do shovel more dirt tightly around each post.  It is best to check your post after the last snowfall when the weather would have finished affecting the ground around your fence.

Fence Caps

Along with the ground around your fence, you should check your fence caps periodically.  Changes in temperature or severe weather can cause your vinyl fence caps to loosen and fall off on the ground.  You just need to re-secure the caps with super glue to make sure they will not fall off of your fence.  You can get super glue at your local hardware store.
