Decks are a common breeding ground for mold and mildew. Before the winter months set in, check in between the tight boards and cracks of your deck. Mold potentially decreases the integrity of your platform and needs to be removed as soon as it’s formed.
Give it a Good Scrub
The best way to keep things free from debris is to scrub them down. It’s important to keep the surface of your deck clean because this debris could potentially rot the surface of your deck and cause deterioration.
Remove Snow
When that first snowfall does come, be prepared. Just as snow can potentially damage a roof, it becomes heavy on your deck and can also cause damage. Avoid using salt or other ice melting products on your wood surface as they may cause discoloration or damage to the finish.
