When do you decorate for Christmas?
Thanksgiving is still on its way, but many people have already started decorating for Christmas. Whether you like to decorate early or not, now is still a great time to imagine how you would decorate your home for this special holiday. There is nothing like decorations to help you relish the Christmas spirit. Here are several Christmas deck decoration ideas to make your outdoor living space inviting even in winter.
A Subtle Outdoor Rug
An outdoor rug on a deck can make the space feel instantly like an outdoor living room. There is something very comfortable about having a rug underfoot, even on a backyard deck. You can subtly make this static feature of your outdoor living space a festive feature through its color. Green, red, blue, or even gray could give you the base for your Christmas color scheme.
Wreaths, Garlands, & Swags
Any form of decorative evergreens is appropriate as Christmas deck decorations. Wreaths can decorate your back door and deck railings, as can evergreen swags. Garlands, whether real or artificial, can grace deck railings. Artificial greenery could be better for deck railings to avoid resin stains or moisture damage.
Festive Ribbons
Plaid, solid color, or other ribbons are simple but effective decorations. You can tie bows around each deck railing post to get the effect. Wide ribbons are better than thin ribbons for visibility. This Christmas decoration also works well for street-facing fences.
Outdoor Sculptures
There are plenty of outdoor sculptures that could be pleasant additions to your deck, assuming you do not clutter the deck with them. Tasteful Christmas or winter decor on a backyard deck could include sculptural elements of your choice.
A Christmas Tree
A small Christmas tree with its own ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc., could be an absolutely divine addition to your backyard deck. A real or artificial tree would work.
Festive Lights
You can’t forget about lights! Christmas outdoor lighting in its simplest form would be string lights. They could feature warm white, multi-colored, blue and white, etc. Lanterns and other decorative lights can layer in more lighting.
A Heat Source
You can make your Christmas deck decorations as pretty as possible, but no one will want to be outside for long without a heat source. A patio heater, fire pit, or outdoor fireplace are just three options to make it a truly inviting space. Don’t forget hot chocolate or hot cider!
